Looked out over a snowy driveway and double checked the temperature gauge and thought " 4 more degrees before it hits above freezing" . Snow flurries again today, being Thanksgiving Day, it is understandable. "Going for a Thanksgiving Ride is still possible" I think to myself, but to actually speak it aloud!, let alone someone who might be in earshot, may be a trip to the funny farm, unless you understand what riding is all about. Lets talk about the flurries, do we really need to discuss the ride? No, the flurries is the issue, as I sit inside the warm house with the fire going, I check the gauge again and think a few more degrees may be all it takes to get me out. Sand and snow are what a spring rider thinks about, the same degrees really do feel warmer in the spring, but for now my Thanksgiving Ride is going to be my armchair, inside, near the fire.

Is it really the last time?
Woke and and saw SNOW! Sounds exciting? Not Really. Every time I see snow falling, I think: "Is it really the last time?" Riding between snowflakes has become a hobby of mine. I really don't want to put the bike away, but still hope for warmer weather. Dressing up in layers is a normal thing during the regular riding season, but being a last hanger on'r, I am thinking the 30 minutes spent getting dressed for a 20 minute ride may not be the smartest thing, but riding until the plows are out are a yearly end to the late season. I ask again: "Is it really the last time?"

Weather Check and Veterans Wall
Did some riding this past week, But, who could not have enjoyed weather in the mid to upper sixties at the end of Oct and beginning of Nov in the northern states! Miles are getting shorter and so are the days. I have enlisted a few people to help with the Veterans Assistance Fund ride/ Bike Blessing We are putting together. Got a letter the other day about Memorial Day Celebrations in May 2009, funny how some well placed words and actions can get things done. I am hoping well intentioned thoughts plan out. Was a good thing last year and as always we shall be there on Memorial Day in one capacity or another. Our weekend riding just over that weekend usually amounts to about 800 miles. Not a bad ride! Well, the Wall project is updated and anyone wishing to stop in to check it out can come and see at the Veterans Day service on November 11 at 11am.(former Plattsburgh AFB Oval) Come honor the Veterans just to remember them. The next bricks are laid and I see many names I know personally through my travels and family that have been in.
